How To Make Money From Low Priced Reports And Products
On UpperMoney.com I’ve talked about why creating information products can be so profitable. However, I also understand that you might be put off by the thought of creating a 100 page book! Well, there is an easier way…
Many people start off making money on the Internet by creating a short (10-20 page) low priced (i.e. $7) report that they can sell.
This can definitely get you started in the right direction. After all, it’s much easier to create a short 10-20 page report than a 100 page book! If you put your mind to it, you can write a short report in as little as 24 or 48 hours!
However, if you’re going to create a short report to sell, I’d suggest you do it with just one main purpose in mind - to generate leads for higher priced products.
Let me explain what I mean by this. When a person buys a $7 report from you, they become your customer. You now have a buyer-seller relationship with them. So add them to a customer email list, and as you sell more copies of your low-priced report, you’re building a list of actual buyers, and not just freebie seekers.
And this is the good bit…
You can then follow up on your customers and sell them higher priced products!
Incidentally, this is also a great way of testing the market for a larger product. Create a short low-priced report, and see how well it sells. If it does well, you can create higher priced products in that niche. The great thing is, you’ll also have a ready-made list of customers to sell to!
However, it can be more difficult to promote a low-priced report and to make a profit on the report itself.
For example, if your report is $7, and the cost to advertise on your favourite pay-per-click search engine is $0.50 a click for relevant keywords, then you’d need to make a sale every 14 visitors just to break even. While that’s not impossible to achieve, your sales copy would have to be pretty exceptional to get those kind of results.
To generate enough sales to make it all worthwhile, you’d need to find a mass audience in your niche. For instance, you could find blogs and newsletters in your niche, and pay the owner for a product review, or to advertise.
Even if you just break even for now, it doesn’t really matter… as long as you’re building your list of customers! Remember that a person who spends $7 with you today may well spend $47 with you next month.
Incidentally, I’ll show you how to actually set up a customer list in another post. In fact, I appreciate there’s quite a few technical bits and pieces you’ll probably want to know, such as how you accept payments for your report in the first place. Keep reading this blog and I’ll make sure I cover those aspects.
However, in the next post I’ll discuss why I believe your real money will be made with higher-priced products, why it’s much easier to sell higher priced products, and how to add value to your product so you can sell it for more. So make sure you’re subscribed to this blog!
